Nova União.
Diego is a black belt under Guilherme Santos and has represented Team Nova União for over 20 years. His academy will be the Atlanta affiliate — Nova União Atlanta. Nova União has an enduring history in jiu jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. While known as one of the most accomplished MMA teams in the world, it is also known for its friendly, familial atmosphere that prioritizes highly technical jiu jitsu instruction in a fun & encouraging setting.
Diego Saraiva
PERSONAL LIFE
Born in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, Diego began Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at 12 years old. By 20, he had moved to the United States to compete and teach. Jiu Jitsu is a family affair in the Saraiva household as both his wife, Fernanda, and their 16 year old daughter, Milena Costa, are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belts. Off the mats, Diego is known for his always smiling, happy, friendly, and upbeat demeanor.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
With over 40 MMA fights dating back to 2001, Diego is one of MMAs OGs. He made his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut at UFC 67, and he held titles in the American Fight League, PFC (2 weight classes), and WEF.
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
With over 30 black belt medals in the most prestigious events (IBJJF), Diego is one of the most decorated BJJ athletes in Atlanta.
